IF THERE WAS BUT ONE YOUNG BIRD OR ONE EGG etc. A certain Rabbi said to Raba: Perhaps it should be the reverse, thus if there was but one young bird or one egg [in the nest], one is not bound to let the dam go, for according to the verse there must be young or eggs,<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Deut. XXII, 6. The verse states these nouns in the plural, i.e., several young or several eggs.');">³</span>
