אמר ליה רבא כל כמיניה כיון שהגיד שוב אינו חוזר ומגיד וכי תימא הני מילי על פה אבל בשטר לא והא אמר ריש לקיש עדים החתומים על השטר נעשה כמי שנחקרה עדותן בב"ד

Rava said to him: Does he really have this power? Once he has once testified he cannot again testify! And if you will say [that] this applies only to oral testimony but not to testimony in a document, did not Resh Lakish say: If witnesses are signed on a document it is as if their testimony had been examined in court?
