MAMZERIM. How do we know it? - Because it is written: And Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the slave, the Ammonite, heard it:<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Neh. II, 10.');"><sup>2</sup></span> and it is [also] written, [Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah.] For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he [Tobiah] was the son-in-law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Jehohanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berchiah to wife.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Ibid.
