אמר רבא האי בי כנישתא חלופה וזבונה שרי אוגורה ומשכונה אסור מאי טעמא בקדושתה קאי

Rava said: This synagogue—it may be exchanged or sold [for secular purposes], but may not be rented out or pledged [to secure a loan]. What is the reason? [In the latter case] its holiness remains.
