לא קשיא הא ר"מ הא רבנן דתניא בית הכנסת שיש בה בית דירה לחזן הכנסת חייב במזוזה ושאין בה בית דירה ר"מ מחייב וחכמים פוטרין

Do only their [sons] need life, not the others [women and their daughters]?
