ורב תחליפא בר אבימי אמר שמואל אפילו נשא אשה ושהה עמה י' שנים ולא ילדה כופין אותו תנן אלו שכופין אותו להוציא מוכה שחין ובעל פוליפוס בשלמא לרב אסי דרבנן קתני דאורייתא לא קתני אלא לרב תחליפא בר אבימי ליתני נשא אשה ושהה עמה עשר שנים ולא ילדה כופין אותו

R. Tahlifa b. Abimi stated in the name of Shmuel: Even if married a woman and lived with her ten years and she bore no child they force him to divorce her We learned: The following are compelled to divorce [their wives]: a man who is afflicted with boils or has a polypus This can make sense to R. Assi [for he could say] they taught cases where rabbinic law [compels divorce] but not those forbidden according to the Torah However, to R. Tahlifa b. Abimi the Mishnah should have also taught: If a man married a woman and lived with her for ten years and she bore no child he may be compelled [to divorce her].
