Q. Is a mourner permitted to grind wheat during the first week of mourning, if otherwise he would have no bread?
A. Even when the mourner has bread, but prefers it fresh, he is permitted to grind wheat.

Q. Wheat containing cracked grains (cracked by moisture) which constituted less than one-sixtieth of the whole was ground up before Passover. Is it permissible to eat such flour on Passover?
A. No, such flour is not fit for consumption on Passover. This Responsum is addressed to R. Hayyim.
