ולרבי אליעזר וכי דבר הלמד בהיקש חוזר ומלמד בהיקש

Tractate Tzitzit

[The absence of one] of the four zizith invalidates the others, because all of them [constitute] a single religious observance. R. Ishmael says: They are four independent observances.
