Talmud for Yoma 49:2
הכי נמי מסתברא דאי ס"ד באותן שזכו לפייס לא היו מניחין עליהן אלא מכנסים בלבד והתניא מניין שלא יהא דבר קודם למכנסים תלמוד לומר (ויקרא טז, ד) ומכנסי בד יהיו על בשרו
For, if it were to refer to those who were allotted part in the service by count, how could it be stated that they left them the breeches only; surely it has been taught: Whence do we know that nothing may be put on before the breeches? To teach us that it says:<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' V. supra 23b.');"><sup>3</sup></span> And breeches of linen shall be on his flesh.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Lev. XVI, 4.');"><sup>4</sup></span>

Did not Rebbi Ḥiyya state, “nobody could sit in the Temple courtyard except kings of the Davidic dynasty”247Babli Yoma 25a,69b, Soṭah 40a, Tamid 27a, Sanhedrin 101b; Yerushalmi Yoma 3:2, Soṭah 7:7.? And Rebbi Immi said in the name of Rebbi Simeon ben Laqish, even the kings of the Davidic dynasty could not sit in the Temple courtyard. Explain it that he leaned on the wall as if sitting. But is it not written, King David came and sat before the Eternal2481Chr. 17:16., etc.? Rebbi Ayvo bar Naggari said, he concentrated249Since in Mishnaic Hebrew יִשׂוּב דַּעַת means “concentration”. for prayer.
