Tosefta for Pesachim 11:4
איכא דאמרי אמר רבא בהמת ארנונא פטורה מן הבכורה ואע"ג דמצי מסלק ליה עיסת ארנונא חייבת בחלה ואע"ג דלא מצי מסלק ליה
we do not ask, for he is [certainly] liable.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' The owner is bound to render it as a firstling.');"><sup>7</sup></span> our problem arises where he cannot put him off with money: what then? He replied: It is not subject [thereto].
Tosefta Pesachim
One who departs with a caravan or sets sail on a ship more than thirty days [before Passover] does not need to search [for chametz], [but one who departs or sets sail] within thirty days searches, and removes them (i.e., the pieces of chametz), and [then] goes on his way.
