טלית שאולה כל שלשים יום פטורה מן הציצית

A borrowed coat is, for the first thirty days, exempt from the zizith.'

אדהכי אייתוה לההוא גברא דלא הוה מוקר אבוה ואמיה כפתוהו

While this was going on a man was brought in [to the court] for not honouring his father and mother.

אמר להו

They bound him [to have him flogged], whereupon [Rami] said to them.'

שבקוהו דתניא

Leave him alone, for it has been taught.

למיסר נפשה לא קא מיבעיא לי כי קמבעיא לי למיסר חבירתה

מ"ש למיסר נפשה דלא מיבעיא לך דתנן

When he [R'Safra] returned, Abaye said to him: 'I had no doubt at all that it, itself, was forbidden;<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' It is certainly permitted because it is discharging blood all the time during the cooking and will not absorb at all.');"><sup>3</sup></span>

אינה נאסרת למיסר חבירתה נמי לא תבעי לך דתנן

I was only in doubt whether it could render forbidden other [pieces that were in the pot with it or not].'

הכבד אוסרת ואינה נאסרת מפני שהיא פולטת ואינה בולעת

'But why had you no doubt that it, itself, was forbidden?

For we have learnt: It is not itself rendere forbidden.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Ter. X, 11.');"><sup>4</sup></span>

דילמא התם בכבדא דאיסורא

Then you should have no more doubts as to whether it renders others forbidden, for we have learnt: The liver renders [other pieces in the pot] forbidden but is not itself rendered forbidden, for it exude and does not absorb'!<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Ter. X, 11.');"><sup>4</sup></span> - He replied.' Perhaps there it refers to the liver of a forbidden [animal]
