Responsa על ברכות 79:22
Teshuvot Maharam
Q. Must one who comes out of a privy and wants to eat [bread] wash one's hands twice, first in order to recite the blessing "who has created Man", and second, for one's meal?
A. There exists a difference of opinion among the Geonim, but I believe that he should wash his hands once, and recite two blessings: the first "on the washing of hands" and the second "who has created Man", and then eat.
