Responsa על ברכות 83:9
Teshuvot Maharam
Q. Must we recite the blessing al hagefen after drinking the wine of kiddush and habdalah [before beginning the meal]?
A. Since reciting the blessing over the wine of kiddush and habdalah obviates the necessity of reciting another blessing over the wine drunk during and after the meal, the drinking of the wine of kiddush and habdalah forms part of the meal, and the reciting of the al hagefen after such wine and before the meal is unnecessary.
SOURCES: L. 398; Cf. Tashbetz 294.
