Commentary for Berakhot 107:15

בשלמא מעברות הים דכתיב (שמות יד, טז) ויבאו בני ישראל בתוך הים ביבשה מעברות הירדן דכתיב (יהושע ג, יז) ויעמדו הכהנים נושאי הארון ברית ה' בחרבה בתוך הירדן הכן וכל ישראל עוברים בחרבה עד אשר תמו כל הגוי לעבור את הירדן

[It is quite right with] the fords of the Jordan; for it is written, "And the priests that bare the ark of [the covenant of] the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, while all Israel passed over on dry ground, until all the nation were passed clean over the Jordan" (Josh. iii. 17). But the fords of the valleys of Arnon — whence is it [that a benediction is necessary]? For it is written,
