The place was not Jabneh but Usha; and in addition to the Rabbis mentioned here, there were R. Meir, R. Simeon b. Johai and R. Eliezer b. Jacob. Bacher regards the version in the Midrash as the more authentic account; A. T. II. p. 54 n. 6.

This reading of the Paris MS (cf. D. S. ad loc.) is to be preferred to that of edd. : Eleazar.
