רב גידל הוה רגיל דהוה קא אזיל ויתיב אשערי דטבילה אמר להו הכי טבילו והכי טבילו אמרי ליה רבנן לא קא מסתפי מר מיצר הרע אמר להו דמיין באפאי כי קאקי חיורי

Rah Giddel had the habit of going and sitting at the gate of the baths, saying [to the women as they entered], "Bathe thus and thus." The Rabbis said to him, "Is not the master afraid of [the promptings of] the evil impulse ?" He replied, "They are in my eyes like white geese."

The bath of purification, called Mikweh, is here intended. Certain regulations had to be observed, otherwise the act of purification would be invalid.
