אמר רב יוסף מאי קרא (דכתיב) (דברי הימים א כז)ואחרי אחיתופל בניהו בן יהוידע ואביתר ושר צבא למלך יואב
Rab Joseph asked : What is the Scriptural authority for this? "And after Ahitophel was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Abiathar ; and the captain of the king's host was Joab" (I Chron. xxvii. 34) —

This reading of edd. "Benaiah the son of Jehoiada" agrees with II Sam. 20:23. The Hebrew text of Chronicles reads "Jehoiada the son of Benaiah" which is also the reading of M. here.
