Commentary for Berakhot 7:18
עד יעבור עמך ה' זו ביאה ראשונה עד יעבור עם זו קנית זו ביאה שנייה מכאן אמרו חכמים ראוים היו ישראל ליעשות להם נס בימי עזרא כדרך שנעשה להם בימי יהושע בן נון אלא שגרם החטא:
— "Till Thy people pass over, O Lord" refers to the first entry [into Canaan]; "till the people pass over that Thou hast gotten" refers to the second entry. Hence the Sages said : The Israelites were worthy that a miracle should be performed for them in the days of Ezra in the same way that it was performed for them in the days of Joshua, the son of Nun; but sin caused [the miracle to be withheld].
