Commentary for Megillah 26:22
ויאמר המלך להמן הכסף נתון לך והעם לעשות בו כטוב בעיניך אמר רבי אבא
“And the king said to Haman, The silver is given to you and the people also, to do with them as it seems good in your eyes.” R. Abba said:
Tosafot on Megillah
The silver is given to you: The numerical equivalent (gematria) of, the silver, comes to [the same as for), the tree. This hinted to him that he would be hung upon it.
