ואמרינן מאי קאמר הכי קאמר מתוך שאתה ממשכנה אתה חייב להחזיר לה ואתה משיאה שם רע בשכנותיה אלמא ר' יהודה לא דריש טעמא דקרא ורבי שמעון דריש טעמא דקרא
— Generally,indeed, R. Judah does not interpret Biblical law on the basis of its reason;here, however, it is different, for here he merely expounds the reason statedin the text. Thus: Why the command, he shall not multiply wives to himself?It is that his heart be not turnedaside.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Therefore in his opinion, Scripture itself restricts the law to these conditions.
