Midrash for Sanhedrin 41:6

ואמרינן מאי קאמר הכי קאמר מתוך שאתה ממשכנה אתה חייב להחזיר לה ואתה משיאה שם רע בשכנותיה אלמא ר' יהודה לא דריש טעמא דקרא ורבי שמעון דריש טעמא דקרא

— Generally,indeed, R. Judah does not interpret Biblical law on the basis of its reason;here, however, it is different, for here he merely expounds the reason statedin the text. Thus: Why the command, he shall not multiply wives to himself?It is that his heart be not turnedaside.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Therefore in his opinion, Scripture itself restricts the law to these conditions. ');"><sup>11</sup></span> And R. Simeon? — He could answer you: Let us see: Generally we interpretthe law according to the reasonimplied;<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' [Ms M. omits, 'Generally&nbsp;… implied.'] ');"><sup>12</sup></span>
