Commentary for Sukkah 101:24

Like the tanna'im - [whether the] essence of song is vocal or instrumental.

[The musicians] were slaves of priests - [This] is [written in] Mishnah Arakhin (Arakhin 10a) [where] we established [rules regarding] the ones who take up musical instruments at the time of the song of the sacrifice.

The family of the House of Happegarim and the family of the House of Tzipperaya - these are names of families.

And they were from Emma'um - this is the name of their place.

They were Levites - but Israelites were prohibited from this [that is, playing instruments in the Temple].
