א"ל ההוא אמגושא לאמימר מפלגך לעילאי דהורמיז מפלגך לתתאי דאהורמיז א"ל א"כ היכי שביק ליה אהורמיז להורמיז לעבורי מיא בארעיה

once said to Amemar: From the middle of thy [body] upwards thou belongest to Ormuzd;<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Ormuzd, the principle of light, life and good, in the Zoroastrian system, constantly at war with Ahriman (q.v.). ');"><sup>22</sup></span> from the middle downwards, to Ahriman.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Angra Mainyus Lit., 'the Destroyer', the head of the forces of darkness, death and evil. Warfare must be waged between the two, Ormuzd and Ahriman, for twelve thousand years, at the end of which Abriman will be defeated by Ormuzd V. J.E. I, 294. s. v. Ahriman. Hence the upper part of the body, which contains the head and heart, and consequently what is good in man, belongs to the former; the lower half of the body, the seat of the sexual and excretory organs, to the latter. ');"><sup>23</sup></span> The latter asked: Why then does Ahriman permit Ormuzd to send water<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' I.e., the excreta. ');"><sup>24</sup></span>

Da'at Tevunoth

41 The second type said, G-d forbid, there are two domains, one acts for the good and the other acts for evil, in saying there is nothing without its opposite, and with G-d may his name be blessed the absolute good, there would be G-d forbid opposite him one who is absolute evil; and from these two sources, they said, arise the actions in this world, some of them for the good and some for the bad. And this is the matter (Sanhedrin 39a) "From your midpoint and up is in the domain of Hurmiz, and from your midpoint and down is in the domain of Ahurmiz", which was said by a certain apostate to Ameimar:
