Midrash for Sanhedrin 178:18
מדיחי עיר הנדחת בסקילה מ"ט דרבנן גמרי הדחה הדחה או ממסית או מנביא שהדיח
"the lamb, for a burnt-offering<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Cp. ibid. 7. ');"><sup>25</sup></span> but not Isaac for a burnt-offering."25 He replied, 'It is the penalty of a liar, that should he even tell the truth, he is not listened to.'
Sifrei Devarim
"to turn you astray from the way": It is written here "turning astray," and, elsewhere (Ibid. 11) (in respect to one who incites to idol worship), "turning astray." Just as there the punishment is stoning, so, here. R. Shimon says: This one's death is only by strangulation.
