אי נמי כדר' ירמיה בן אלעזר דאמר ר' ירמיה בן אלעזר דו פרצופין ברא הקב"ה באדם הראשון שנאמר (תהלים קלט, ה) אחור וקדם צרתני:

Or [it may be explained] according to the statement of R. Jeremiah b. Eleazar who said : The Holy One, blessed be He, made Adam with two faces ; as it is said, "Behind and before hast Thou formed me" (Ps. cxxxix. 5).
