Reference for Berakhot 47:21

ואיבעית אימא לא שנא רצועה ולא שנא קציצה אסור וכי תלה רבי בכיסתא תלה

or if thou wilt I can say that whether to hang them by the thong or case is forbidden ; and when Rabbi hung them up it was in a bag.
