ואי אמרת מחצה על מחצה כרוב טרפה הויא

Now if you say that an exact half is equivalent to the greater portion, then was it not already trefah [before the slaughtering]? - Raba answered: With regard to the law of trefah it is different, for there [all agree that] we require such a greater portion as is perceptible to the eye.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' So that an exact half even though equivalent in law to the greater portion, would not be sufficient to render trefah.');">⁴</span>
