כיון דחזייה דקמצטער א"ל רבי מצאתי להן תקנה מן התורה (דברים ד, ד) ואתם הדבקים בה' אלהיכם חיים כולכם היום וכי אפשר לדבוקי בשכינה והכתיב (דברים ד, כד) כי ה' אלהיך אש אוכלה

When he saw that he was distressed, he said to him: Master, I have found for them a remedy in the Torah: “But you that cling to the Lord your God are alive every one of you this day” (Deuteronomy 4:4); now is it possible to cling to the divine presence? Is it not written, “For the Lord your God is a consuming fire” (Deuteronomy 4:24)?
