הנודר מן פירות הארץ אסור בכל פירות הארץ ומותר בכמהין ופטריות ואם אמר גידולי קרקע עלי אסור בכולן

— Abaye answered, They do indeed grow out of the earth, but draw their sustenance from the air,<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Therefore they are included in the vow, 'growths of the earth'; yet since their sustenance is drawn chiefly from the air, they are not regarded as earth grown in respect of a benediction.
