ומנא תימרא דלהפסד מרובה חששו ולהפסד מועט לא חששו דתניא חבית של שמן תרומה שנשברה בגת העליונה ובתחתונה חולין טמאין מודה ר' אליעזר לר' יהושע שאם יכול להציל ממנה רביעית בטהרה יציל ואם לאו תרד ותטמא ואל יטמאנה ביד

Because it was taught: If a cask of oil of [clean] terumah was broken in the upper vat, while in the lower is unclean hullin: R Eliezer concedes to R'Joshua that if a rebi'ith thereof can be saved in purity, one must save it. But if not, l it descend and be defiled, yet let him not defile it with [his own] hands.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' All agree on this, because the loss of hullin is only slight, since the defiled terumah can be used for lighting.');">¹²</span>
