Responsa for Sanhedrin 14:2
דרש ר' יאשיה ואיתימא רב נחמן בר יצחק מאי דכתיב (ירמיהו כא, יב) בית דוד כה אמר ה' דינו לבקר משפט והצילו גזול מיד עושק וכי בבקר דנין וכל היום אין דנין אלא אם ברור לך הדבר כבקר אמרהו ואם לאו אל תאמרהו ר' חייא בר אבא א"ר יונתן מהכא (משלי ז, ד) אמור לחכמה אחותי את אם ברור לך הדבר כאחותך שהיא אסורה לך אומרהו ואם לאו אל תאמרהו
R. Hiyya b. Abba says: R. Johanan derived this from the following verse:Say unto wisdom, Thou art mysister.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Prov. VII, 4. ');"><sup>3</sup></span> If the matter is as clear toyou as is the prohibition of your sister [in marriage], give your decision,but not otherwise.

They responded: "Say to Wisdom, my sister are you!" (Proverbs 7:4) - "if something is as clear to you as the prohibition of your sister, only then speak it." (Sanhedrin 7b:2) And who can truly examine and calculate how much flavour was exuded from a spoon? Some time later they responded: "One was Abraham," (Ezekiel 33:24) "Incline after the majority." (Exodus 23:2) *i.e., the opinion of R. Abraham b. David is rejected.
