איתיביה אביי פיטמא של רמון מצטרפת והנץ שלו אין מצטרף מדקאמר הנץ שלו אין מצטרף אלמא דלאו אוכל הוא ותנ' גבי ערלה קליפי רמון והנץ שלו קליפי אגוזים והגרעינין חייבין בערלה

Abbai quoted in objection: The top-piece of a pomegranate is reckoned in but not the blossom; and since it is stated that the blossom is not reckoned in, conclude that it is not food. And we have a Mishnaic teaching with reference to 'Orlah : The skins of the pomegranate and its blossom, and the shells of nuts and the kernels are subject to 'Orlah !
