Commentary for Berakhot 72:6

אלא אמר רבא היכא אמרינן דנעשה להו שומר לפירי היכא דאיתיה בשעת גמר פירא האי קפרס ליתיה בשעת גמר פירא

But, said Raba : When do we declare that a thing constitutes the protection of the fruit ? When it is there at the time the fruit has ripened ; but the caper-bud is not there at the time the fruit has ripened.
