Responsa for Chullin 17:18

ואמר רב יהודה אמר שמואל

It is therefore necessary to teach you that [he may not slaughter because,] since he does not know the rules, it may sometimes happen that he will pause or press, and will not know [that it is wrong to do so].

Shut min haShamayim

They responded: the halacha is well known - "A slaughtered animal is presumed to be kosher" (Chullin 9a:8), and "We do not presume things to be prohibited" (Rif Chullin 18a:4). Yet all who are stringent regarding the lungs will merit to sit in the Heavenly Yeshiva.
